Guided journeys into the landscape of myth, archetype, and your own inner wisdom

I don't want to kill any dragons.
I don't want to fight demons.
Let them breathe fire elsewhere.
Let them roar down empty roads.
I've set my sword down.
I'd rather have tea under the tilting willow tree,
watching the wind stir its long green fingers,
listening for whatever truth the leaves remember.

An Inner Territory Journey is a guided meditation, a chance to turn inward and step into the world of myth, archetype, and your own subconscious wisdom. It's slow, gentle work, and it adds up over time.
Whatever your spiritual or religious orientation, you're welcome here. It's your inner territory, after all!
After the Journey there's optional time for witnessing, sharing, journaling, and art, all ways to explore and integrate whatever came up. Stay as long as you like.
If you think you're not good at imagining or visualizing, that's not a problem at all. These skills grow with attention and practice. When I started, I could hardly see or sense anything, and my ability grows with every Journey I take.
If it's your first time, we'll begin by setting up your imaginal inner landscape together. If you've done this before, you'll know just what to do. 🙂
This work is rooted in one lineage and offered as a doorway into yours. Bring whatever mythology, ancestry, and spiritual ground you stand on. There's room for all of it here.
Inner Territory Journeys are for people who feel the pull toward their own inner world and want to walk it with honesty, depth, and devotion. You don't need to be a guide, a healer, or an expert in anything. You only need to be willing to listen inward, and to learn to trust your first and most vital guide: your own intuition.
The people who find their way here are often already tending something: a creative practice, a community, a body asking for attention, a life asking for more truth. Some are therapists, coaches, bodyworkers, artists, and spiritual practitioners. Many have simply lived their way into a deeper kind of listening.
These Journeys are for you if you want inner work that is trauma-aware, relational, mythic, embodied, and slow. If you value consent and sovereignty. If you want practices that don't bypass the body or the nervous system, and that don't recreate harm, hierarchy, or spiritual performance.
A Journey isn't a replacement for therapy. It can support and deepen the work you do with a therapist, but it isn't meant to take its place.
If you feel drawn to archetypal landscapes and to the slow, grounded practice of meeting yourself there, come journey with us. Your curiosity and your care will be met.
Camera on or off. Sweats, messy hair, no makeup, whatever! Participate as much or as little as you like. You can even sleep through the whole thing. I'm not kidding. Whatever you need, do that.
Open-minded friends are always welcome, so feel free to bring someone along.
Can't make this one? Journeys happen every four to six weeks.
Leave your name and email and I'll let you know when the next one is scheduled.
All Inner Territory Journeys are part of the Artful Embodiment Circle, plus live gatherings all month long, including our new Sacred Well Gathering, a ritual based expressive arts practice.
Founding membership is $35/month or $350/year.
Artful Embodiment's Inner Territory work is mytho-poetic, archetypal, decolonial, and trauma-informed. We move slowly and relationally here. The work centers sovereignty, accessibility, and nervous system safety, along with the understanding that our personal healing and awakening can't be separated from our responsibility to each other and to the living world.
The soul system we work with is complex and rooted in European heritage practices. We can teach it only because Black and Indigenous femmes showed us how to go looking for what is ours. We honor the centuries of labor, preserved wisdom, and teaching behind that, and we don't take it lightly. Our community is currently majority white, and we hold that honestly.
I'm Michelle Hess, MA, RYT, CPC: poet, mixed media artist, subtle body coach, embodiment mentor, and yoga teacher. I'd love to journey with you.
